The community at Pebble Creek at Lake Mary apartments would like to take time to honor the women in our community. Today is International Women’s Day, and from a historical perspective, things have changed significantly in the past 100 years.
In 1908, after centuries of political oppression and inequality, 15,000 women marched through New York demanding the right to vote, shorter working hours, and to enjoy equality with their male counterparts. In 1909, the first National Women’s Day was observed nationwide. The movement is now a global effort celebrated by millions of women worldwide. The voices of women are no longer silent, and these efforts are helping to make the world a better place for all young girls and future generations of women.
Celebrate International Women’s Day by telling your wife, mom, sister, daughter, or other special woman in your life how much they mean to you. Maybe even buy a box of candy or a bouquet of flowers. Even small acknowledgments make a big difference.
